Habitat for Humanity Teams Up With Wal-Mart Distribution Center
A deserving family will watch their dreams come true for homeownership this Thursday with the launch of Greene County Habitat's second homeownership project for 2011. "I am delighted to announce our next build project and our new partnership with Wal-Mart Distribution Center and CrossRoads Missions." said Vicki Culbertson executive director of Habitat for Humanity. "This project is scheduled to begin on February 17th at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center. These two organizations will join forces with us to build the framework - interior and exterior walls for our next house and will complete the project in two days! The completed interior and exterior walls will be stored at Wal-Mart Distribution Center's warehouse until we've had time to excavate the building site and have the footers and foundation in place to continue the build project." Wal-Mart Distribution Center Assistant GM, Jeff Gregg said, "Our founder, Sam Walton, realized the importance of giving back to the communities where we live and work. We encourage our associates to get involved with charitable organizations that matter to them and their families. We are proud to work together with CrossRoads Missions, Habitat for Humanity, and Vicki, to make a family's dream become a reality. Our management team and associates are excited to work hand in hand with other community volunteers to make this happen." Since 1993, CrossRoads Missions has been combining the biblical principles of worship, service and discipleship by being a doorway for churches and individuals seeking ministry opportunities in places they may otherwise have difficulty serving. CrossRoads Missions accomplishes this goal by bringing people of all ages into missions in the United States and foreign fields. These experiences greatly challenge those who participate to consider deeper involvement in ministry in both the world and their own communities. CrossRoads Missions teams, and individuals who participate with CrossRoads Missions, are involved in multiple areas of ministry including: construction, medical missions, education, discipleship, evangelism, worship, and disaster relief. "CrossRoads Missions has a full schedule this year traveling around the United States to help with build projects. They will be in Florida and Texas just before coming to Tennessee to work with us on this project", said Mrs. Culbertson. "Jim Gates, Wal-Mart Distribution Center's General Manager, Jeff Gregg, Wal-Mart Distribution Center's Assistant General Manager, and Andy White, of CrossRoads Missions, were the catalyst in launching this project, and giving Habitat this incredible opportunity. We are so very grateful. Teaming up with Wal-Mart Distribution Center and CrossRoads Missions will be an incredible build experience for everyone!" Project begins at 1:00pm Thursday at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center to measure and cut framing for interior and exterior walls. Friday morning - beginning at 8:00am at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center, the framing will be assembled becoming the actual interior and exterior walls for the new house building project.
